Silk

Silk is a beautifully, soft fabric made from organic protein fibres. Known for its stunningly, natural sheen, lightweight strength and breathability,
adding silk to your Poiset piece guarantees a fluid drape that keeps you warm in cool weather and cool in warm climates.

When used in isolation, 100% woven silk is a non-stretch fabric. Poiset employs specialised techniques and/or uses stretch silk blends with small amounts of stretch fabric such as Spandex, Lycra or Elastane.

Satin

Satin is how a textile is weaved, creating a smooth surface that features a beautiful gloss on one side, and a dull finish on the other. The satin weave
is non-stretch fabric, known for its stunning sheen and fluid drape.

Satin was initially made from silk fibres, with modern satin now primarily using synthetic fibres such as nylon, polyester and rayon. Poiset offers both natural and synthetic satin, with our natural satin fibres listed under the silk category above.

As satin is a non-stretch fabric, Poiset utilises specialised techniques and/or stretch satin when necessary for your piece.

Satin vs. Stretch Satin
Similar to stretch silk blends, stretch satin blends traditional satin fibres with a small amount of stretch fabric, such as Lycra, Spandex or Lycra.

Sheer fabrics are loosely weaved or knitted with ultra-thin thread, allowing for light to pass through and create the transparent or semi-transparent finish we’ve all come to adore in modern fashion.

Jersey Stretch (ITY)

ITY (Interlock Twist Yarn) is a blended fabric made predominantly from polyester with a small percentage of Spandex, Elastane or Lyra.
